Miles gives updated injury report on Flynn, Doucet
LSU coach Les Miles said in his Wednesday press conference that senior quarterback Matt Flynn will see plenty of playing time Saturday against Tulane.
"He feels pretty good, and he's ready to play," Miles said. "He's going to get nothing but better as we go forward."
Matt Flynn, who suffered a high-ankle sprain against Virginia Tech, went 8-19 for 70 yards and one touchdown against South Carolina as he struggled with his footing on the rain-soaked field.
DOUCET UPDATE
Miles addressed the condition of senior wide receiver Early Doucet.
"He is making very good progress," Miles said. "He's rounding into health. We're optimistic."
Doucet injured his groin in a walk-through practice on the eve on the Tigers' game against Middle Tennessee. He's been held out of action for the past two games.
Miles said he expects production from reserve receivers against Tulane.
"We expect Brandon LaFell and Chris Mitchell, Terrance Tolliver and [Demetrius] Byrd and Jarred Mitchell to make contributions in this game," he said.
McCRAY STEPPING UP?
Miles was effusive in his praise for sophomore safety Danny McCray.
"He is a tremendous athlete," Miles said. "To go with real ability, he has a real maturity in learning and understanding football. We expect him to play a lot of football this year. We enjoy Danny McCray."
McCray has racked up a total of 25 tackles and three sacks so far this season. McCray tallied 11 tackles - including nine solo against South Carolina.
LIGHTHEARTED MILES
After asked how much time the team spends practicing in the indoor facility, Miles said, "83 percent."
"It was close to 80, but it was 83 percent."
Miles then commented on the style he wears his hat.
"Generally speaking, I try to [wear a hat] that fits my head," Miles said. "The superstructure, that being that part that rises above your head, should not be too tall. The brim [should] cover my nose from the sun. Those are generally the prerequisites."
